Under seats and sleeping areas - use a Yuasa AGM or SMF flooded battery.Avoid using maintainable batteries as they can be difficult to check the fluid levels and may fail prematurely due to lack of maintenance. In confined spaces - use a Yuasa AGM or SMF flooded battery.Avoid using maintainable batteries as the higher gassing rates can corrode and damage the electrics in the application. Near sensitive electronics - use a Yuasa AGM or SMF flooded battery. When choosing a deep cycle battery, many consumers focus on the price, physical size, weight or capacity of the product, without taking into consideration where the battery is located in the application. 80% DOD means that 80% of the energy has been discharged so the battery now holds only 20% of its full capacity.īATTERY TIP 1 - Select a deep cycle battery that suits the environment! For example, 50% DOD means that half of the energy in the battery has been used. GRID DIFFERENCES BETWEEN DEEP CYCLE AND STARTING BATTERIESĭeep cycle batteries have thicker plates to handle deeper discharges, different grid patterns to improve current flow, higher density paste to increase cycle life and use different grid compositions depending on battery type (AGM, flooded or gel) to maximise service life.ĭOD is the amount of energy that has been removed from the battery, which is expressed as a percentage of the total capacity of the battery. Starting batteries (sprinters) are specially designed to start the engine, work as a voltage stabiliser and run accessories when the engine is not running.Deep cycle batteries (marathon runners) are designed to deliver sustained power with low current draw over extended periods of time.WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DEEP CYCLE AND STARTING BATTERIES? In a battery, one discharge plus one recharge equals one cycle. A deep cycle battery is a lead-acid battery designed to be regularly discharged then recharged again.

![]() Heck, I might of bought a new Ardent if they didn't "Carbon-fiber" the whole thing, as the profile and looks of the reel would look pretty good if it was just painted like a "normal" reel. Quickly garnering the attention of bass anglers these reels successfully. Impressions: Abu Garcia has long been known for their round reels but since the introduction of their original Revo low profile baitcasters the company has taken the market by storm. Pretty sure I'm not buying a Curado G made in Malaysia? Not sure that's where the Curado G is made or not, I just know it's not Japan anymore. Abu takes another turn at refining their popular Revo Series. Use a copper coin to unscrew and remove the handle knob cover on the opposite side of the reel. The handles on Abu Garcia Revo and Orra models can be removed by first turning the anti-reverse switch to the ON position and then rotating the handle counterclockwise. Not just bagging on ABU, as I'm not too crazy about dropping $430.00 for a T3 from Daiwa but made in Thailand. Begin disassembly unscrewing the handle from the reel. BUT, if it is also made in Korea, I'm not so sure I'll drop the $350.00 for a made in Korea reel. Though, we did notice that the lighter colors didn’t have the best pigment payoff. With 10 colors, including an often overlooked gray hue, we’re confident that most people would be able to find the perfect match. Plus, the built-in spoolie brush blended everything for cohesive, snatched brows.Īlong with the versatile design, we were equally impressed by the shade range. The thick side of the pencil filled in our bald spots, while the thin side helped to sculpt our arches and add feathered strokes for fuller defined brows. Through our testing, we found this Kosas pick to be the most user-friendly, with its multipurpose triangle-shaped tip. ![]() If you’re just beginning your brow journey, we recommend choosing a pencil that can sculpt, define, and fill in your brows with minimal effort. Shades: 9 | Waterproof: No | Active Ingredients: Micro-crystalline wax, castor oil ![]() Ultimately, we consider this a stellar pick for thicker brows that need a little extra oomph, but thin brows should opt for something a bit more precise. That said, because of the larger tip, we had a difficult time creating hair-like strokes. Plus, once the formula set our brows looked perfect for the entire day - we didn’t experience any smudging, and our eyebrows still looked fresh by the time we were ready to take our makeup off. The dual-ended pencil, which featured a thicker angled tip and a fluffy blending brush, efficiently filled in our brows, covering sparse spots for more uniform arches. During our lab test, we found that the Fill & Fluff Eyebrow Pencil Pomade from NYX worked like a charm to fill in the gaps between our thick brow hairs. If you have thick brows, you may not need a ton of help, but having a trusty brow pencil on hand to even out your arches can be a total game changer. It's not ideal for creating hairlike strokes. Shades: 5 | Waterproof: No | Active Ingredients: Grapeseed oil, vitamin E With only five shades to choose from, many people will have to miss out on this stellar product. Truthfully, it was difficult to pinpoint a con, we wish the color range was more expansive. The handy spoolie on the other side made it easy to diffuse the color, so our brows looked defined but still natural.Īside from adding the ideal amount of pigment, the formula also helps condition and promote brow growth over time thanks to nourishing grapeseed oil and vitamin E. We only needed to apply slight pressure while filling out our brows to get a rich pigment. For such an affordable pick, we were pleasantly surprised by the color payoff, too. ![]() We have particularly thick brows with a few sparse spots, and this pencil quickly evened out our arches, making them look fuller. The dual-ended precision liner and spoolie duo allowed us to tame, shape, and define our brows in seconds. The shade range left a little to be desired.īetween the price point (under $5!) and the creamy smudge-proof formula, this budget eyebrow pencil swfitly earned top marks during our test. Shades: 12 | Waterproof: No | Active Ingredients: Vitamin E, hydrogenated castor oil Our brows stayed perfectly intact until it was time to remove our makeup at the end of the day. We do wish that the creamy formula was waterproof, but we still found it to be extremely long-lasting. We were also impressed with this pencil’s shade range: With 12 options to choose from, it has the most variety of all the products we tested. Because of the duality, we consider this pencil ideal for all types of brows, including thin and patchy arches. Beyond seamlessly drawing on soft, hairlike strokes, we were also able to use this to shade in sparse areas of our brows with minimal effort. While not as thin as the Brow Wiz, we found that the slanted triangular tip of this pencil was extremely versatile. In our lab test, we tried two of the brand’s best-selling brow pencils, but the Brow Definer reigned supreme. Upgraded anti-glare screen with higher than stock resolution. So I am wondering if the GPU is still on and heating up for no reason or if it's just measuring the temperature of the GPU which gets hotter because the CPU runs on the same heatsink? I even installed gfxCardStatus to see the current used graphics device which had shown the Intel iGPU. īut the kext for actually running the dGPU 3000 was not present in the OS (it was in High Sierra), which made me sure that the GPU was at idle if on at all. Since the GPU was disabled and saw MacOS Catalina was released I wanted to finally get off High Sierra in favor of an OS that actually integrates darkmode, so I followed dosdude's guide on the MacOS Catalina patcher which went seamlessly and now MacOS Catalina is in fully working state in my MBP, small anomalies such as light mode having weird dark-gray colors and no transparency but nothing to worry about (Dark mode is just fine).Īfter I installed Macs Fan Control (I like my mac running cool rather than quiet) I saw that the GPU is running in the high 40s/low 50 degrees Celsius range and I was wondering if my dGPU was working inside Catalina so I went into terminal and used the following command to see if my GPU kext was picked up. This is the guide I used for disabling the AMD dGPU: on an incompatible machine the software has no effect but it does allow for install and be ready to run when booting a compatible machine).I had recently disabled my AMD dGPU on my MacBook Pro 15" from 2011 since it was starting to show it's age (usually it worked fine for the last 7+ years but sometimes it would start to show symptoms of nearing failure which was common on the 2011 models so I stepped in and finally decided to disable the GPU before it bricks itself, disabling me the access to the terminal since switchable GPU MBPs always boot from dGPU first). I went to Apple store in NYC tonight and got a new Macbook Pro 15 inch. gfxCardStatus is an open source menu bar app for macOS that was developed by Cody Krieger to monitor graphics activity in MacBook Pro models with multiple GPUs. Is gfxCardStatus indeed a possible solution by forcing the use of “integrated only” early enough in the process to allow boot to complete? Edit: the amount of feedback I've received is amazing. I have the following questions for the author (and thank you for developing this software in the first place). Reading this post, the issue seems to be the same as the one reported by ttrtilley (and others). It would be great if we could use gfxCardStatus to always force the usage of the internal GPU.Ī genius bar rep suggested gfxCardStatus because my video card is bad and the system crashes before it completes the boot. Note: if I let the ATI* and AMD* extensions in place, my MBP freezes during the boot sequence Today gfxCardStatus is used by a lot of the owners of early 2011 MBPs who have troubles with the external Radeon GPU.įor example, to be able to boot my MBP 8.2, I must remove the ATI* and AMD* extensions, but in this case, the selected GPU is the Radeon GPU and gfxCardStatus is not able to force the usage of the integrated GPU because it detects an external display even I have no plugged external display !. OK, assuming you have a functioning circuit (or not, you can follow along without one), let’s jump into the Arduino IDE and start coding this bad boy from scratch. If you’re wondering how to wire a circuit like this, definitely check out the website for lessons on setting up different circuits. ![]() We’ve included a schematic below as one possible way you could set it up, or even easier, you can use our Kit-on-a-Shield which makes programs and experiments like this super easy. Please keep in mind the focus of this lesson is demonstrating how to code timed events with Arduino, so we won’t go into detail on how to set up your actual circuit for this experiment. Luckily for us, we are using the millis function instead of the delay function, which would make this MUCH more difficult. When we lay this out on our timeline, we see that we have two events that overlap every five seconds. This is especially true when you have overlapping or concurrent events. When you’re creating a program that has repetitive timed events it doesn’t hurt to lay out the timing of the events on a piece of paper. println(), to display those values to the Serial Monitor Window on our computer. Then we could use functions from the Serial library, Serial. Looking at this it appears we could use the Arduino millis () function to set up the timing for these events, and we could use analogRead () to read the LDR and the temperature sensor values. Think of the algorithm as our plan of action. Event 2: Read/Display Temp Value (every 5 sec).Event 1: Read/Display LDR Value (every 1 sec).Event 2 will read the temperature sensor and display it’s value every five seconds. We want Event 1 to read the LDR and then display that value every 1 second. We want the light-dependent resistor to read and display every second and the temperature sensor to read and display every five seconds. What we want to do is read these values and display them to the Serial Monitor window but we don’t want constant readings. We’ve got two sensors, a light-dependent resistor (or LDR) and a temperature sensor. This is more or less what we’re trying to accomplish. Drink Kool-Aid and watch a beautiful sunsetĮvery good program has an even better algorithm to go along with it, so before we start typing away at the Arduino IDE, first we want to write out our plan of action.Code from scratch a program using millis() to time 2 repetitive events.Map out a program with 2 INDEPENDENT timed events. Here’s a quick rundown: In part 1 we described the basics of the millis function in general, in part 2 we talked about tight loops and blocking code, in part 3 and part 4 we discussed some issues that arise when using the delay function, and in part 5 we showed how to create “once-off” events and repetitive timed events using the millis function. If you haven’t seen the previous lessons in this series, we highly recommend that you go back and check them out either now or after this lesson. ![]() For example, you may want a servo to move every 3 seconds, or to send a status update to a web server every 3 minutes. This is part of a mini-series we’ve been publishing that’s all about using the Arduino millis function to create timed events. * and turn pins 13 and 11 on while keeping 12 off and wait for another half second.Have you ever wanted to do MULTIPLE timed events with Arduino? What about multiple CONCURRENT timed events? We’re “upping” our game with this lesson, so buckle in and hold on tight! * This code is the starting code for my functionExample, I want to turn pins 13, 12, 11 high wait for half a second turn all the pins off wait for half a second ![]() Note that this example assumes that some of the fundamental Arduino examples are already known. I will split up this post with the starting code for an example without any functions, convert the same program using a function, show an extended example of what one can do with functions, and compare to a version of that code without functions to show that fewer lines of code can make it easier to use. Yes, there is documentation on using a function, but one has to visit the Arduino website to try to use context and they don’t expand on their examples very well. I decided to make my own example code for writing functions as it should be one of the basic examples in Arduino.
